This project was mainly conducted to see if it was true that a broom style done correctly was very difficult. “Oh yeah, it is very difficult”. The tree is a Florida Live Oak from nursery stock. My guesstamate it’s about 15-20 years old. It was about 10’ high and the top 5’ was dead. The root spread is 5” and I chopped the top at 11” the height from the top of the pot is 28” at the time of this writing 2009. The tree is a fast grower but because of trying to get the broom style correct it has been 4 years in training and it still is not correct. If it were a formal upright it would be well on it’s way to being a bonsai. Note all the bud break on the old wood.

I know it’s a cliché but the photo doesn't do the tree justice. It still needs the main branches adjusted. This is a tough one for me.
